I like to take inspiration from the cause of death or method of funerary rites. An undead who floats around in a semi-corporeal form made of burning ashes, with red hot coals as eyes because the person was cremated or burned on a pyre. An undead who underwent the horrific, Norse saga-inspired rite of blood eagle. This undead flies with wings made of its own ribs, and exists on a revenant-like vengeance quest to kill those who made it undergo the blood eagle in life. Maybe it kills people and steals their lungs, inserting the lungs into its own body so it can feel the ecstasy of getting to breathe again as if it were still alive, even if only briefly.

What do I transform into? I think I would be a warforged who transforms into a metal dinosaur.

I've been working on an Armor Artificer with me basically removing the flavor of magically donning the set. Mainly, he's a Blacksmith who builds his own set of armor with different states. The 2 modes actually have tactile reasons, like the Thunder Gauntlets and Lightning Launcher are from bracelets that was supposed to let the wearer cast Shocking Grasp. Instead, it shocks the user when activated. With the Gauntlets, he shocks the gauntlets, electrocuting whoever he hits. When he uses the Lightning Launcher, the bracelets are moved just forward from the hand and the electricity gathers in the middle, to be launched with a punch. Basically, I wanted to make Mega Man as an Armor Artificer

I made a Warforged astral self monk last year that I'm dying to play. He was made by an artificer that put the spirit of a dead god inside this suit. His name is Vessel. It's so funny that you titled that one The Vessel because of my characters pre existence 😂

Our current barbarian is a coward, he tries to persuade the enemy to calm down at every opportunity. He only rages if he takes a large amount of damage or if he encounters a giant. Background is that he is possessed by his great great grandfather who was a powerful warrior (who was killed by a giant).

Yes it’s still an interesting thematic world, and the controversial elements are generally portrayed as evil or corrupt things. Most heroic stories in Dark Sun are about working against those elements

The Carnival is not the only non-stationary domain. Cyre 1313 lightning rail from Eberron derailed and took alot of passengers with it. Its the only domain created through a massive disaster. Its travels around ravenloft unhindered on its ghost rails.

I play echo knight in descent into Avernus campaign. We are in hell and I’m a bender (something like a monk class from DnD Shorts book) multiclass. So with that I use my echo as a part of my soul that I found in one of the soulcoins. Since my character is cursed tree-like humanoid, my echo resembles his look before he was cursed 🙂

I would make the kraken an ancient arch druid who became one with the sea centuries ago. Probably make them nonbinary too. Add in them being known as a legend by underwater civilizations, that thought they were a really powerful arch druid fighting off monsters, but teally they were the monster fighting other sea monsters. Have them be able to absorb the spirits of creatures to be able to change into them. Add in a acient underwater city which they now use as a prison for some of the most evil sentient beings in all of the world. Make them use to be the protector of that city, until a great calamity hit, like a elder evil starts opening a portal in a crack near the city that the druid was to scared to do anything about, and that is why they protect the entire ocean now. Let us call them Rayn Tempest, Gaurdian of the sea. They could also be known for dealing with sea gods and underwater civilizations, making sure there is peace in the ocean. The players could have the option of even becoming their apprentices, to replace them one day.

I know that opening part in the noisy factory was supposed to be fun and quirky but it made me want to click off.

Also an added idea, living houses, outgrown plants that help protect the owners, as in a symbiotic relationships. And have people communicate through the wood wide web, using myceleum.

I’m currently playing a Ghost in the Machine (Modern UA) warlock, who created their patron. Sure, they do have to appease their A.I (it is sentient after all), but they do get to hack stuff extra good (through the A.I just getting into those systems, and doing whatever needs to get done).

Some awesome ideas here. Though you kind of danced around one in particular I was pondering myself.. I've always liked the idea of playing a proper dragon, but not for the power-factor, but just how different adventuring would be from the perspective of say, a 10 year old, small dragon. While the monsters-as-a-class aren't a built in feature for 5e, it occurred to me you could do mostly the same thing by taking artificer, where your abilities in armorer are just your physical (and magical) body maturing and getting more powerful. It's not a perfect fit, obviously, but there's many ways to get the effect of a breath weapon, or even just a smaller, more rapid fire with the stealthier armor version.

I think it was discontinued more for it not selling well. It had its fans (I'm one), but it was SUPER different from any other setting.

Quick correction Teslapunk is actually closer to steampunk than atompunk. The aesthetic is mostly inspired by victorian are architecture and is therefore not too similar in overall style.

4:45 the main issue with this in 5e is that warlocks dont channel magic directly from their patron. Theyre being taught these things and the patron cant exactly take them away!

I like the idea of the suckers being like leech mouths, but if I'm allowed to complete make up a creatures form... give me a island sized sea turtle shell back, with abalone shell belly plates, back flippers of the turtle or barnacle covered whale, with the eyes and mouth parts of a crab at the front of the shell (with maybe tentacle tongues with suckers that have jellyfish sting cells, and a spade tip with leech mouths at the end), and along the front edge of the shell to either side of the crab 'face' are anemone tentacles. maybe have more variants in number of eyes like spiders, and coloration and patterning like anemones and poison dart frogs. i can imagine larval versions up to titanic monsters.
